Capital Gate tower in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, designed by UK practice RMJM , has reached its final height of 525ft, by topping out its central core.

Dubbed Abu Dhabi’s leaning tower, it leans at an angle of 18°, 14° more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

The tower will house the 189-rooms Hyatt hotel, office space, a cantilevered tea house on the 18 floor, an open sun terrace and a pool.

The tower is constructed on a 7ft concrete raft with a steel diagrid placed on 490 piles that have been drilled to 100ft underground.

Capital Gate tower, being developed by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, is part of the $2bn Capital City development project for business and residential complexes.
