Local planning officers from Camden Council in London have recommended the Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners revised extension behind The British Museum for approval.

The £135m ($220.5m) scheme involves redevelopment of the north-western corner of the grade I-listed building.

The design will include submerging one of the five pavilions to address light issues and will also increase the space between each block from 2m to 3m.

The revised scheme has secured the support of CABE and English Heritage , however, it has been opposed by Georgian Society, the Camden Civic Society and the Ancient Monuments Society.

In July, the original scheme was rejected for its excessive bulk and massing.
