A consortium led by Henning Larsen Architects (HLA), Tredje Natur, MOE and Railway Procurement Agency has secured a contract from Frederikssund Municipality to design a regional train station and a new quarter in the Vinge town of Denmark.

The station is part of the municipality’s larger plan to connect the city with regional public transit.

The company said in a statement: "The fundamental idea for Vinge is to develop a new town where natural elements are not simply added at the end, but integrated from the beginning of the town’s development.

"In Vinge, the natural landscape becomes part of the town and you will be able to live in the countryside within the town."

"The new regional train station is an example of this holistic approach."

To integrate the project with the town, HLA has also created a 370ha master plan for the town of Vinge.

Henning Larsen Architects architect and project manager Niels Edeltoft said: "It is a symbolic strong beginning of a town development.

"Simply put, our idea is to create an integrated town space that connects the movements of the town and the landscape. In Vinge, the natural landscape becomes part of the town and you will be able to live in the countryside within the town."

The train station in Vinge is expected to be completed by 2017.
