Park House development in London

Construction firm Mace has completed a £135m Park House development on London’s Oxford Street in the UK.

The nine-storey, 56,000m², mixed-use development covers a city block of more than an acre in Mayfair, London, and faces onto Oxford Street.

Designed by Hamilton Associates, Park House includes retail, commercial and residential space.

The development features 15,000m² of office space, with some of the largest interior office spaces in London’s West End, as well as 8,300m² of retail space and 39 apartments, some with external terraces.

The exterior of the structure is fully glazed, featuring specially commissioned art, with a curved, partially metal and partially glazed roof.

Park House project director Shaun Tate said the construction team overcame several challenges, including negotiating the activity on Oxford Street, the proximity to London Underground and also the technical challenges of the building’s design.

"We hope Park House will become one of Oxford Street’s most stand-out landmark developments," Tate said.

Park House is one of the three schemes that are part of the UK-based property firm Land Securities‘ £655m London West End development.

In 2010, Land Securities appointed Mace as the construction manager for the development and later the construction firm also secured the design and build contract.

The other schemes of the project include Selborne House and Wellington House on Victoria Street.

Selborne House will feature 11 floors, with 23,450m² of office space and 1,540m² of ground-floor retail.

The scheme has been jointly designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and Swanke Hayden Connell, and will be delivered by Sir Robert McAlpine.
