Penn National Gaming has submitted two proposals to the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission (IRGC) in the US for a new gaming and entertainment destination in Woodbury County.

The first proposal is for a $160m, 100,000ft² Hollywood Casino Sioux City, and the second proposal is for a $167m Hollywood Casino Siouxland.

Hollywood Casino Sioux City will be constructed on a ten-acre site in one of the areas zoned by the Sioux City Planning Division.

The development will feature a 33,000ft² casino floor with 750 slot machines, 20 live table games, a five-table poker room, structured parking for 800 vehicles and a 300-space surface lot.

It will also feature a 6,000ft² multi-purpose event centre with a 500-seat concert venue, a steakhouse, a casino bar and a sports pub.

As part of $40m phase two, Hollywood Casino Sioux City will be expanded to include a 150-room hotel with space for an additional 50 slot machines, five table games, five new poker tables, as well as more food and beverage options.

Hollywood Casino Siouxland will be built in Woodbury County south of Sioux City and will feature a 150-room hotel built as part of first-phase construction.

Penn National Gaming chairman and chief executive officer Peter Carlino said, "Our proposed facilities, if approved, will ensure the continued employment of our team at Argosy Sioux City and create 800 new construction jobs, as well as 400 jobs at the facility upon opening within approximately 18 months following approval from the IRGC."

The IRGC is expected to make a decision on the submitted proposals in April 2013.
