UK-based construction firm Seddon has won a £7m contract for the Mulberry Walk Retail Park development in Birmingham.

To be constructed in Sutton Coldfield for Salmon Harvester Properties, the retail centre will have 54,000ft² of floor space.

Construction works for the project are expected to start from this November and be completed by October 2016.

Under the terms of the contract, Seddon will be responsible for retail accommodation, a service yard, car parking, and hard and soft landscaping for 22 units across the Mere Green area of the city.

The retail development is a part of the wider £18m scheme designed by K4 Architects.

"Deals have already been signed with Marks and Spencer, and Boots as anchor tenants for the development."

The scheme is a joint venture between Salmon Harvester Properties and NFU Mutual, and deals have already been signed with Marks and Spencer, and Boots as anchor tenants for the development.

Meanwhile, spaces for Prezzo, Café Nero, Boots Opticians and Loungers are currently under offer, and Greene King has already started trading from the site.

Seddon regional director for the Midlands Eamonn Burns said: "The past year has seen Seddon’s presence in the Midlands grow strongly as we build a diverse portfolio of contracts across the business.

"We look forward to delivering this scheme for Salmon Harvester over the next year."

Recently, Seddon won another design and build project for a new £1.6m self-storage facility in Bristol, UK.

The planned storage development at the Longwell Green trading park will offer 17,598ft² of space for business and personal use.
